Notes for Henrik Niskanen eller Strömborg
HisKi...A soldier Henrik Palm and wife Gertrud Henriksdr Canain had a daughter Maria on 30 apr1735 in Colima. Johan Kumpulain was born in Colima!

from Matti Pasanen....Paavo Niskanen has researched old tax
records of eastern Finland and his researches on Niskanen family has
also published in the 1970's. I think that these publications are
nowadays available only in some Finnish libraries.
The oldest Niskanen ancestor in his research was Johan Niskainen
whose origin is not known. Johan had four sons, who lived in
Lammassalo in Pielavesi parish. According to Paavo Niskanens research
one of them, Lauri Niskanen moved to Pihtipudas approximately in the
year 1557. I think, that this Lauri Niskanen is ancestor of Niskanen
family lived in Pihtipudas and Viitasaari parishes.

Henrik’s soldier name came from T Arpalahti, and also…
Maria Niskanen's parents were Henrik Niskanen (soldier No 66 Ström-
borg) marr. 26.5.1729 Vsri Keihärinkoski Greta Mårtensdr Ruuska.
They had at least these children:
- Helena Henriksdr *24.11.1732 Keihäri bapt. 28/11
- MARIA HENRIKSDR *13.7.1734 Vsri bapt. 16/7
- Henrik Henriksson *26.1.1740 Keihäri bapt. 2/2
- Eskil Henriksson *7.7.1743 Keihäri bapt. 16/7
Henrik Strömborg was enrolled ca 1728. He died 9.12.1780 Keihäri
(old age, 70y), buried 17/12 as a 'gratialist', which probably
meant his family didn't have to pay anything for his funeral.

27may2019 “I e-mailed my cousin in Finland yesterday with a question about Henrik Niskanen/Stromberg, and by this morning I had a reply back from her.

According to the army lists that she looked at, Henrik served in the Häme Infantry Regiment, Rautalampi Company, and was number 66 on the muster roll. This position became vacant in the company in September 1726, and after  being examined he was accepted and had joined the unit by 1728. (I suppose this means that he joined sometime during the year 1727?) His age was listed as 20 when he joined, and the record also states that he was born in Viitasaari. The rolls did not mention his parents names. Henrik served with the regimental company until he was discharged on Mar. 4, 1758. So he was a career soldier for 30 years.

This may not be much, but it adds a bit more to the story. “ Brian Närhi

Greta Mårtensdr Ruuska died 18.9.1770 Keihäri (consumption, 55y),
buried 23/9. Her age must be somewhat wrong in the list since
she was married already 26.5.29.
