living with her at her son Matts Paatelain’s home in 1845 was a Olaf Kainulain, b 1788, died 8 Jun 1845.. Is he her brother? Can’t find that he is a brother by searching for the children of Adam and Brita..there were no Olafs born in Viitasaari in 1780 (try 1788). Is he really a second husband? don’t find a marriage record in Viitasaari with him.

the 1834-39 RK has her in Suovanlaks 16, Kemala No 2, Viitasaari living with Olaf Kainulain, born 1788 (etiä Pää 1834) she listed as his wife with a dotter Stina Sophia b. 1813... a DAUGHTER’S birth to an Anna Kainulain can not be found in Viitasaari. A Matts Jänte lives nearby

Anna Kainulain with Mats had no more children up to 1815 in Viitasaari or in Rautalampi. Possibly Matts died in the 1808-09 Swedish -Russian war. I did not find a death record for him during 1804-1812 in Viitasaari (the copy is very obscure) or Rautalampi. Would he have been entered in his home parish or where he died? If Anna did remarry to Olaf Kainulain and have a child in 1813, it was in some other parish. did she emigrate to Rautalampi, hence Matts going there later or did the Paatelains originate in Rautalampi?

rk of 1781-1785 book I, page 161 has a Matts Patelain, born 1752, living in Rautalampi, Wesijärvi? Wesijärvi is on Horontaipal/ Wesamäki border

(SOURCE is Viitasaari kopiot) no other marriages of a Matts Patelain found in Viitas. back to 1776, a Johan Patelain, married in 1789 to Lisa Pananen has son Henric; this Johan is possibly Matt’s older brother

imagine now in Viitas. a father Johan P. (b ca. 1740..it turned out to be 1746) with sons Johan (b ca. 1765..1769 actually) and Matts (b ca. 1774..exactly). Father Johan could be an older brother of Matts of Rautalampi (born 1752..don’t know yet), therefore grandson Matts (born 1804) would have a logical destination in going to Rautalampi, so would granddaughter Helena Sophia Patelain (b. 5.4.1795).

There was found i the Rautalampi LK a Johan Pietiläinen in Karkas 5 on about the 4oth page of the first section who had the children Maria, Johan b 1777, henric b 1782, Johan b 1783, Matts b 1786 and Lars b 1794. These are too young probably.

there are Patelains in Laukaa up to about 1789, then that town name and they seem to disappear from Laukaa...why?, did the town name change or become part of another parish, they move, die (no Patelain deaths seen)? The name Pateläin seems to be different, and they remained in Laukaa, mostly in Makela village.

in 1805 a Henric Mattss. Patelain from Padentaipale, Patela/Laukaa marries. in 1806 a Cath. Mattsdr Patelain of the same place marries.

a pig. Helena Sophia Patelain, "s. 5.4.1795, Viitasaari", moves in to ?Crustlax, Viitasaari in 1814 from Rautalampi. Is she a daughter? I can't find her birth in Viitasaari kopiot during 1793-98. Helena Sophia is a name seen at least three times.

In Viitasaari: 12.8.1798 a "Söngen" Matts Johansson Patelain of Kriheri Patela marr. Anna Adamsdr Kaindain (COULD THIS BE KAINULAIN?!!). find Kriheri Patela on roll 67797?

a "notf. " Gertrud Paatelain dies at age 89 in Suovanlaks in 1836, therefore born 1747. She was living at the end acc. to RK in Suovanlax 14 described as “Rots. Ea.” with a number of seeminly unrelated people

in Viita. no surname Patelain deaths 1797-1805, but copy is of poor legibility. I was looking to see if he had died, and son adopted by another family such as Jänte

nov 97...In whole of Viitasaari in 1845-50 I found no living children of Matts (born ca 1770) except Matts b. 1804.

the HisKi data show that at least three couples seemingly of the same family are married and have children using both names Pihl and Paatelain, following after Sold. Johan Pihl, who marries Maria Påhlsdr Niskanen on 28.2.1768, then has Johan, Paulus and Matts. Paulus disappears from Viitasaari. Johan and Matts carry on the name.

In Laukaa the Patelain name stops appearing in marriage records at 1785 and Pihl doesn’t appear at all up to that time. Do they depart Laukaa? is their home now in another parish?

the death date is from the 1799-1810 Rk of Viitasaari, bottom of first Ilmolax page (Kaupila hem.). the same place had his birth year as 1772.
