Notes for Kalle Honkonen
information from Tiina Höök
Kalle Honkonen 10.1.1888 Saarijärvi, Honkola, Naarajärvi 3, Puruaho - 3.6.1970 Suolahti

In the other book, from Sumiainen
There is mentioned in chapter Syvälahti village, Raikkous:  Kaapro (Gabriel) Rossi and his parents and siblings, where they lived; under the big house of Johan Kautto (here is more Juho Kauttos or Kauttos than no one can count .. they are everywhere.. even nowadays.. ) also has written that Kaapro left America and his family Hilja, Aili and the baby (who died) stayed here and they did not hear about Gabriel. Maybe in the beginning some letter came. But then came Kalle Honkonen, who drove tar ? terva by horse from Sumiainen Syvälahti to Suolahti factory.

acc. to Tiina Höök (2021)
She was married to Gabriel (Kaapro) Rossi in 1912. Gabriel was from Sumiainen Syvälahti village, where they lived for a while. They had a girl, Aili Vilhelmiina Rossi, born december 1912. In those times, as you know, many people went to America, and so did Gabriel too, in 1914. To Conneaut via England. The immigration paper mentioned Emil Vesterinen as a friend. The purpose was that Hilja, who was pregnant that time, would travel with children to America later, too. But that did not ever happen. Became a war and after that it somehow..
The girl Elli was born in june 1914, but she didn´t live for many months.

Hilja worked as a servant girl in some house in Konginkangas, and later in Suolahti at the roller factory and plywood factory. She met Kalle Honkonen (1888 Saarijärvi-1970 Suolahti), but they couldn't get married, because they didn´t know what had happened to Gabriel Rossi. So they just lived together (in those times, not so nice) and had 8 children, one of those, is my grandmother. 3 children died as a child. That family was very poor, Hilja did sewing work in addition to factory work. Oldest of the children, Aili, had responsibility with her youngest "half" siblings.
Now we know Gabriel Rossi died in 1963, St Thomas, Ontario, Canada. But we don´t know what he did in the USA and / or Canada. Had he another family or not.

My grandmother Anja was born in March 1930, and she is the only one who is alive among siblings. She lives at a nursery home now.
My granny Anja got married with Tauno Pääkkönen (born 1925 Rautalampi-1988 Suolahti) and three children, all girls.
Tauno`s mother was Siiri Matilda Augustintytär Koljonen and father was Kalle Emil Kallenpoika Pääkkönen, both from Rautalampi.
