Notes for Juho Jordan Martinpoika
Alkuaan luultavasti ratsumies. Omisti v. 1600 tilan Joroisten Järvikylässä Järvelä n:o 1(myöhemmin Häyrilä 6) noin
translated.. probably a horseman owning in the year (century?) 1600 a place in Järvelä, Järvikylä 1 . Son of a Marti Jordan i.e. "Martinpoika" was also in Häyrilä 6.
These are the Jorois Jordans. Another branch (Hagenius) spread a very short distance eastward to Rantasalmi, then some to Mikkeli
The core Jordan/Virtasalmi work was done or commissioned by Einari Jordan in 1958.
it is said that the Jordans came to Virtasalmi "Juvalta pain"...from the direction of Juva parish..this must mean before any dates of this tree, because the move to Virtasalmi was a short one and from Joroinen. “Juvalta pain” would support Sääminki as a possible origin.

a "Maj. Jordan " died 11.10.1685 in Tenhola parish, age and relationship unknown

Juoko Salminen told me (from local history books) that in the Puumala Company of the Regiments of Savo served one Juho Jordan (soldier no 51 is Leskelän ruotu). He was killed during the military expedition to Norway on 18jan1719 (Lappalainen P. Säämingin historia I:2 p 578). ..in the end of 17th century in Sääminki there were some families whose members served as lay jurors (lautamies) for many generations. One of these was the Jordan family (ibid. p 24). The Jordan family orginated from army soldiers (ibid. p 317)
