Notes for Thomas Vesterinen
I find Beata's name as Fält for the 1794 birth record for Anna Caisa in Westerilä and as Beata Thomsdr. for the 1790 marriage

record No 149, verifies his Dec 24 birth, Dec 30 Christening 1n 1764 in Westerilä. Godparents: Thomas Westerinen and Marg. Leimoin

Orig Rautalampi marriage record for 5 Dec 1790 has him as “Nybagge ungk. Thom. Samuelss. Westerinen of Westerilä and Pigan. Beata Thomsdr of Kiesmä” the banns had been announced on 31. Oct 1790. there is a very slight possibility that she is from Hangasalmi instead.

acc to Bosse Frederickson, he was mistakenly called Tuomas Huttunen/Huttuin (after his mother) ( isn't his Hämäläinen?) in the rippikirja. I can't find this

also 1n 1791 a Lisa V. marries in Hamula

LDS lastenkirjat roll 58062, page 83 has him living in Nättinmäki Torp., Kuuslax, Rautalampi, Kuopio. Again on page 212

death record (55677) has him age 46, death of "stygn":::heart attack

According to Vesteristen Sukukirja, his marriage was with Maria Tuomaantytär on 5 Dec 1790 (this is A MISTAKE... I DOUBT THAT THERE EVER WAS A MARRIAGE...found none back to 1783) and they had at least one daughter...MAYBE, a Stiina born 29 May 1790 oä. with Thomas Westerinen as father and mother Maria Seikin. Maria, born 20.1.1755 in Toikala, was a “Tuomaantytar”, for her father was a Thomas Siekin, who was a godfather for Stiina; Maria’s mother was Prudentia Hännin. Stiina’s Godmothers were Maria Limatain and Carin Matilain.

Contrary to what might be inferred from Westerinen Sukukirja, the next child was a child of Beata’s, not Maria’s, i.e. Anna Lisa Westerinen, born 22 Sep 1794 in Rautalampi and dead 28 Mar 1831, married ? with Henrik Heino (page 34). There the book stops as it only contains children that grew up to adults and only with the name Westerinen. Thus there can be many more children that died as infants or simply are just not found yet.

with record of Thomas there is often a Steffan Hackarin, born 1777, in the household. Who is he? ....ans.:brother-in-law

could not find a record of a marriage prior to 1790 in Rautalampi. Tried SUONENJOKI (its marriage records start only in 1794), PIEKS (years 1784 to 94 are missing in Kopiot).
no Beata found in Pielavesi

in 1785- RK, p 214, Mylly where his brothers are is at bottom of page, a : ???? Westerinen and wife B??? Hämäläin. Also in 1785- RK, p 234, Kiesmä, is Thomas Westerinen and wife Beata Thomasdotter. Thomas Karhu, b 1756, is the bonden there.

The Rautal. LK of ????-, p 214 has him in Kiesmä with his first three children born during 1791-1796. It would appear that the first (born 1791) is from Maria Tuomaantytär

The RK of 1794-99, p 234 for Kiesmä, has him and wife Beata Thomasdr at the homestead of Thomas Karhu. The 1781+ RK , p 176, has a ?”Br. Måg. Thomas Fält” born 1770 living there also is: “?brother’s son-in-law?..could pigan Beata Thomasdr be Thomas Fält’s sister?..she is there during some or all of 1781-94.
Notes for Beata (Spouse 1)

WHERE did THE NAME FÄLT CREEP IN? I find Beata's name as Fält for the 1794 birth record for Anna Caisa in Westerilä and as Beata Thomsdr. for the 1790 marriage

TO WHAT VILLAGE DID SHE COME IN 1783?

APRIL 1998..ON PAGE 176 OF ROLL 58055 is a pigan Beata Thomasdr in Kiesmä. FOLLOW THIS. On p 126, Kiesmä, in 1781-85 RK is Pigan Beata Thomasdr, b 1770. Above her 4 places is What looks like “Br Måg Tom Fält, b 1770”, but this makes no sense because Thomas Karhu is at top of the page. Maybe it is “Nybg” Thom Fält

There are no Beata Thomsd:rs born in Rautalampi or Viitasaari during 1762-1765. from careful examination of kopiot and orig births.

In the 1794-1803 Rautalampi RK, page 214 for Mylly village there is a Beata Hämäläinen [in retrospect, two years later, this OK, she was born in Häme!], listed as wife of Thom (partly obscured) Vesterin...their birth years are missing.. Near them live Joh Huttuin, b 1746, his wife Judith Sorri, born 1749, also Samuel Vesterin and wife Walborg Rondyin plus Matts Vesterin and wife Maria Hannin.

in the 1813 Rautalampi RK, they are found on page 92 in Kuuslax No.3/Nattimaki, he listed as dying in 1810, she named as Beata Thomasdr, born 1764. living near them are Staffan Hackarin, b 1777 and his wife Christina Westerinen, b 1791 (Thom. Westerinen’s illegit. daughter) plus Anna Lisa V. born 1795 (TW’s second daughter, Beata’s first) plus Elis. Thomasdr (a younger sister of Beata?), born 1782

in 1795-95 a Thomas Hämäläin is several times a godfather in Ninivesi and Winikala

in Rautalampi kopiot, 55677, no Beatas, dotters of Thomas born during 1761-1767.
in HisKi no Beatas of Thomas are found. but this is not conclusive

death record (55677) has her “torpare widow” death of "luugs" ::: consumption at age 54

with roll 58055, Rautalampi RK searched 1773-78 for Fält name. Nothing found; wuonomolax not found. Searched 1781-85,,,perhaps in Kiesmäki one could imagine a mag. Thom Fält b. 1770. No Wuonomolax found.

she was not born in Pieksamaki, 1762-1770.

in 1795-1803, an Eva Fält m. to Nils Orre coming to the parish in 1800. no other Fälts, no Wuonomolax.

was Wuonomolax part of another parish in these years? There is another parish Pielavesi starting 1737..try it. Wuonomolax DOES exist as of 1738.

In Viitasaari, 1762-1767, not one Falt born

orig. marriage record in Rautalampi for 5 dec 1790 (ROLL???) names her as Pigan Beata Thomasdr of Kiesmä; very few other brides do not have their surnames listed. Thomas is listed as Nybygy Engka of Westerilä. on 25 dec 1790, a sold Matts Falt of Hangasalmi marries a Catherina Panain of Istumaki in Rautalampi. in 1788 a Hendric Falt of Kyrchoby marries. in 1810 there is a Henric Fält, born 1762 as "Ordinari Manskapek" in Pieksämäki (roll 59544). In 1828 a Carl Christ. Falt of Karkais No. 5 marries in Rautalampi.

in both Pieks. and Rautal. parishes, years 1760 - 1776, there are no Beata Thomasdrs born, and no Thom. Hämäläins or Fälts as parents. Perhaps Hankasalmi listings are found in still another parish or perhaps she and her family only resided there in transit towards Rautalampi.

in the 1794-1803 Rautalampi RK, p 176, in Niinivesi/Korhola (about 20 km north of Westerilä) there is a Thom. Hämäläin with his wife Marg. Korhonen, b 1757 plus his son Thom. Hämäläin, born 1775. on page 181 a Lars Hämäläin, b 1773 and on page 186 a Henric Hämäläin, b 1768

The 1770s lastenkirja has a Thom Hämäläin (born 1738, d. 1791) on page 14, in Winikala with wife Marg. Yloin born 1737 , mother Anna, b 1698, and children Anna b 1763 and Elisabeth born 1765, Maria born 1767. On page 12 of the 1780’s Rk his family has eight children in Winikala starting with Anna b 16.5.1763, then Elisabeth born 8.3.1765 (she is later called “Lisa”), then Maria born 1767. Could Lisa become Beata? Not likely. Could Anna use Beata as her name? the birth year is the same.
Anna and Maria appear to move to Laukaa. a check of orig birth records for first two daughters did not show Beata as a second given name.
the 1773-78 RK shows no Beata. This Thom Hämäläin is too old to be a candidate.

in Rauta. LK in Vuonomolax an Inh. Lars Hämäläin and children Anna Lisa, b 1782, Thomas, b 1796 and Maria, b 1800

in Rauta. LK on page 246 in Niinivesi Matts Korhoin with a Måg Thomas Hämäläin and children Matts, b 1776, Thomas b 1772, Staffan b 1780, soon dead, and Johan b 1782. CHECK OUT HIS FAMILY FOR EARLIER YEARS..MAYBE BEATA ALREADY GONE FROM HOME (TO HANKASALMI ?) IS THERE A LK FOR 1775+ ??? IT WOULD BE ROLL 58062 BUT THIS IS NO GOOD, THE RK ROLL 58055 MIGHT WORK

Beata went from Hattula to Rautalampi in 1783..p 310 of Hattula RK

the birth date found finally on June 6, 1998 via HisKi

Heinus, Kalvola is a cavalry camp “Jakola rusth.” in 1761-1771

Hello again,
I looked at some branches of your family tree, and can offer some information about your ancestor Beata Fält, who moved from Kalvola to Rautalampi and married a Vesterinen there. It will take a while to collect the information, as I now have it in Finnish.

The short story: Thomas Thomasson Karhu (1756-1834) from Rautalampi was found to be very musical, learned to play the violin, and left Rautalampi at an early age. He later used the surname Biörman, possible received in the military (karhu = bear; björn in Swe.). For reasons unknown to me, he ended up in Kalvola and married Lisa Thomasdotter Fält in 1777. The couple moved to Rautalampi, Kiesimä, in 1779, later followed by some of Lisa’s siblings. Lisa’s maternal grandfather Stefan Lorentsson Czernovski was a dragoon rider, originally from Poland (Oldwen in Silesia). His descendants have been discussed in an article in Genos, the journal of the Finnish Genealogical Society, issue 3/2017.

Thomas Karhu / Biörman’s older sister Susanna can be found among my Rautalampi ancestors – this is my father’s mother’s side.

Hi,
the publisher of Genos (currently 4 issues per year) is the Finnish Genealogical Society (est. 1917), website www.genealogia.fi . The journal is sent to members. Past issues can be purchased through www.tiedekirja.fi (this is a bookstore for scientific books). The Finnish Genealogical Society members have done volunteer work to compile the HisKi database, while members of the other national genealogical society, SSHY, works with copies of documents and makes them available through its website. And your database!

There is a brief summary in English at the end of the article by Heikki Vuorimies about Stefan Czernovski’s descendants. I’ll copy it here:

The family of the dragoon Stefan Lorentsson Czernovski. In the autumn of 1721, nearly 2400 soldiers from four superfluous cavalry and dragoon regiments established in the war years [i.e. the Great Northern War], which with the coming of peace had now become unnecessary, were ordered to Finland. The soldiers were assigned in November 1721 to complement the understaffed Finnish regiments before their return to Finland. The men were primarily Swedish by birth, but some foreigners were also numbered among their ranks. One of these was the Pole Stefan Lorentsson Czenovski, who haled [sic] from Silesia. Czernovski was posted first to the Sääksmäki yeomanry dragoon, but was moved in 1727 to the Somero yeomanry dragoon. He spent his retirement in Kalvola. His descendants spread mainly to the neighbouring parishes around Kalvola, but went as far as Turku, Viipuri and Rautalampi. Examined sources indicate the surname was preserved in the male line at least until the end of the nineteenth century. Nor did time erase knowledge of the family’s Polish roots, since at least in Rautalampi this knowledge was preserved up to the present day. [end of text from Genos 3/2017]

Notes for Maria (Spouse 2)
I don't know what happened to her

oct97..did not find her death in Suonenjoki during 1794-1797

on 20.5.1755 in Toikala, Thomas Sekinen and Prudentia Hännitär had a Maria. This would have a 35 year old woman having an illegitimate child...possible

HisKi has it that her name was Maria Sekin
